What are Medical Foods?
Medical Foods are Amino Acid based products that are essential for good health. Science has shown that when a patient is depleted of the essential amino acids, bringing the patient back to a normal level of these amino acids can improve their condition or disease state.
These Proprietary Amino Acids include but are not limited to Choline Bitarate, Glutamic Acid, Aceteyl L-Carnitine HCL, L-Tyrosine, Histidine, L Serine.
The ingredients are typically found in the normal food chain and are all approved by the FDA and are on the GRAS list (Generally Recognized As Safe).
There are no dangerous drugs in medical foods. Amino Acid based therapeutic agents like our medical foods can be used to avoid addiction, dependency and the multitude of adverse side effects of drugs. Medical foods are designed to be more cost effective than equivalent branded drugs.
Amino acid based therapeutic agents in the Medical Foods classification can be used to avoid the dose of pharmaceuticals.
Medical Foods are NOT over-the-counter supplements. Medical Foods MUST be dispensed by licensed physicians and MUST have ongoing physician oversight during their dispensing regimen.
Medical foods can NOT be found at your local super-store, drug store, or wholesale store.
Medical foods are found at your physician’s office and are written by prescription.
Medical foods can be taken while you are taking prescription medications. Your physician can integrate medical foods into your condition management plan and either reduce the dosing frequency of the prescription medication or he or she can reduce the FDA prescription strength of that prescription medication to a lesser strength.
Medical Foods take time to titrate into your body. It is not uncommon for patients who are being administered prescription based medical foods to take a few days and in some cases up to two weeks to begin to see the benefits. Patience is important on the part of the patient, as is closely following the label instructions, including taking the medical food product on an empty stomach and with lots of water.
